1. Sleep smarter
It’s not always about getting eight hours of sleep a night. The skin will also benefit from using clean pillowcases and sheets. Silk materials are best since it glides easily hence prevent creasing and wrinkles. Silk is also easier on hair – it helps avoid tangles and breakage. Better hair and skin while you sleep? Yes, please.
2. Wash your face twice daily
Every person should wash their face both morning and night. Whether your skin is dry, combination or oily, it is mandatory to wash your face in the morning and at night to help remove grime and oil that’s built up on the face. We can always suggest the Nkuto Haven African black soap with Shea butter and Vitamin E oil which rids the skin of dirt without completely drying it out.
3. Moisturize both day and night
The best times to moisturize are right after you get out of the shower and right before you go to bed. Avoid lotions and butters with heavy fragrances and be sure to find a moisturizer gentle enough for everyday use with zero irritation like the Nkuto Haven butters.
4. Don’t touch your face
Figuring out how to avoid touching your face is very important. It doesn’t just spread bacteria which cause breakouts – it leads to scarring, an increase in wrinkles, and even the flu or worse still, COVID.
5. Always wear sunscreen
I cannot stress enough how important sunscreen is to any skincare routine. Many people feel they only need to protect themselves on sunny days or even visiting the beach but the truth is sunscreen is needed 365 days a year – whether rain or shine. The daily UV exposure contributes greatly to the visible signs of aging. SPF of 30 or greater is required to protect the skin from UV exposure. Our butters have a natural combined SPF or 12 with the added oils.
